If, during the dates of October 21 to 22, 2026, you tried to log in to Final Fantasy XIV and couldn’t, then Square Enix has shared the reason and the compensation it will give players for the issue. The team shared that the problems were due to “a critical vulnerability in the PHP programming language” and that they were forced to suspend new logins for the day.
Since this was an unexpected security measure without prior notice, the FFXIV team and Square Enix decided to give players an extra day on their accounts and subscriptions. Details of eligible accounts are as follows:
・The full version of FINAL FANTASY XIV has been registered to the service account.
・The service account had an active subscription as of Oct. 21, 2026 or Oct. 22, 2026 (PDT).

As to the additional day of play time, for players with recurring payment, the subscription end date at the time the game time is granted will be extended by one day. Retainer subscriptions will also be extended by one day. For accounts without recurring subscription payments, one day of game time will be added.
This additional day of playtime should start being granted to accounts on October 28, but the process can take up to two to three days to complete. This compensation applies to the Global version of the game. Compensation will differ depending on the operating region. Additionally, Square Enix ends its posts with an apology to players for the inconvenience.
